Show bikes: restoration rules?

Hi All - with the tank out it is a new world view of things in the bike frame. what rules do the restorers follow when cleaning things up? the plastic tubing in the engine compartment looks brittle...what are the rules of the road de judge follow when looking over show bikes? thxs kenai

Originality is # 1. Patina is highly regarded over non stock replacement. If you can match do so as close to original as possible or clean and reuse the original.

Try a google on "Concours restoration" or Concours d'Elegance

Personally I have only seen one concours event. I found it interesting but beyond my area of passion.

depends on what class you enter..original restorations..means no aftermarket stuff etc. etc. all must be OEM for that year's model..original but no restoration..just really clean and no aftermarket parts, custom anything goes..
