I did one on my dresser but it only worked for me because of the amount of room inside the fairing for the heat sink. I think that is the issue for most when trying to do a naked bike.

I have this in my wife's 2002 shadow. I haven't compared the size of the bucket to my wing yet though.
Love the light and I'm hoping it will fit.

The headlight with the wire grid on my green Dumpster Queen aka Goldie viewtopic.php?f=16&t=62780 came with an LED in a conventional style bucket with a three prong plug, the only problem is it is absolutely worthless as a headlight at night. So I had purchased a couple of LED conversion "bulbs" for the same reason as you and when I tried them they were equally impotent. A nice bright white but worthless as headlights.
So, moral "--Not everything that says LED is suitable or safe. At at the least be sure it is DOT approved.

https://www.ngwclub.com/forum/viewtopic ... 36#p675436 this is the thread with links to the parts I ordered for mine. It has a series of steel mesh bands for a heat sink and I do not think it will fit in a standard bucket. I sure do love it.

Check out Propav8r’s build. He found a nice sealed beam LED which I used on my ‘78. Pretty much plug and play, and it puts out a good amount of light and a good pattern.
