Re-covering GL1000 seat & broke a barb. Easy way to fix?

Replacing a seat cover on a GL1000. I managed to keep all of the barbs on the pan intact except for one towards the front. Has anyone successfully cut new barbs out of the pan? Any other ways to fix this without buying the strip kit?

3M makes a weather-strip adhesive that works quite well. I used to work in my dad's upholstery shop, and we used it all the time. They make two strengths now. The black one is stronger. My 2 cents.
