Accessory wiring
I'm wiring a voltmeter. In a previous post I was told to tie into either the brown/white or white/red wires. Voltage at the battery is 12v. Testing these 2 wires with the key on nets around 5 volts. Any ideas of what's going on or if I need to tie in somewhere else?

Re: Accessory wiring
Why don't you just tap into the ACC terminals and be done with it? No muss, no fuss.

Re: Accessory wiring
I don't think I have those terminals. Or at least know where they are on the 76 model year.

Re: Accessory wiring
Oh. Sorry. They're on my '78 - and I thought all the 1000's had them.

Re: Accessory wiring
Early models do not have the acc terminal. OK the brown/ white runs the lamps that illuminate the gauges and the turn signals. The green/white is the brake light and horn.
You should have 12 volts there. If you do not that needs fixed or you are going to have other issues. Did you try those readings with the bike running?
The dyna install uses the turn signal circuit to draw it's 12 volts from so it should be there. I would double check your circuit testing and make sure you are reading only 5 volts then I would check it directly on the fuse for those two circuits and then probbably look at the ignition switch. Cycle it a bunch of times and see if the value changes.
