Rotor cover broken? Can I still ride?
Well as the subject says, can I ride with this off? Is there oil in there? I was adjusting my valves and totoally spaced and was trying to rotate the engine but stupid me forgot to take off the cover!!! Maybe it is ok to ride just not recommended? Or don't ride it? I don't even know what's in that area, I just know you turn that and your belts move. Sounds important. Thanks guys
Oh also here some pics as to what I'm saying.

Re: Rotor cover broken? Can I still ride?
The amount of oil flow back there has been debated several times. I believe that it is a mist but yes there is oil back there. No I would not ride it. It is the same plug used in hundreds of other honda applications and should be a shelf item in any honda dealer. Do not tighten it. Should only need to be snug, the oring will hold it in place.

Re: Rotor cover broken? Can I still ride?
Mine was broken when I removed it to do a project on July 1st. Since my GL is my primary transportation I rode until Thursday that week when a new one arrived. There was some oil that came out back there but it wasn't a large amount at all but still required a little more cleaning. I think I got mine on ebay for around $15 new.

^Pretty much this. That cap was used on a LOT of stuff. Heck, I'm pretty sure I have a 1972 CB750 motor in my back yard had has eight of them on it (I'll have to confirm).
If you can't get something local, let me know. I may be able to send you something. (PM me, otherwise I'll forget)

Your dealer doesn't keep much in the way of spares, does it? See if this link works:

If that's all that prevented me from riding I'd clean it real good and duct tape it.

Re: Rotor cover broken? Can I still ride?
I would wait until you can get the replacement part, and also change the O ring. I had one break on me, as I was doing it up the main part sheared leaving the threaded portion in the case! I hadn't even got to the 'snug' bit!
Previous Rides,
1980 CB250N Good to learn on
1981 CX500 good mid range tourer, went to Austria on it!
1983 GL1100C Pride and joy, sold when I bought my 1st house, big mistake
1985 GL650 Silverwing another mistake, horrible bike
1986 CBX550 Good commuter
1989 Suzuki GS750 (1976) cheap and cheerful until a dog ran out in front of me on Xmas Eve, 1991
Current bikes
2010 CB1300 back on a bike after 19 years, two divorces, children grown up etc
1980 GL1100 NOW ON THE ROAD, still use CB1300.
