All I know is I cut mine, cut a piece of scrape I had laying around, took to a local welding shop, and a half hour later it was done. Of course, that was 20 years ago, before the internet was the hot thing, and people didn't know any better, they just saw a task and got it done

Well, my modified sacrificial fuel pump housing is being delivered in the morning. A friend of my son did the deed. He laid the weld on pretty heavy, but I guess that's better than light. It sure will need some love before (or if) it goes onto my motorcycle.

Looks like today is the day. Not a bad job for free. After some elbow grease, it's almost smooth enough to earn its way onto the machine.

Weber 40's next.

I kinda like this mod. Almost looks intentional. 1200 fuel pump is 3/8" outlet. Carb inlet wants 1/4". Going to reduce it. Relay in hand. 75 degree dewpoint in the desert today. Temperature approaching 95F. Getting out of the garage. Almost done.

Thanks Doug. And thanks for the lightning bolt of an idea. I was heading in the wrong direction with that housing.

And the deed is done. Not really a big deal (the most irritating and time consuming part was cobbling together a brass reducer for the fuel line).

Wanna know the best part of this? The bike has been sitting for over a week. I got everything buttoned up, hit the switch and waited five or ten seconds and...

...wait for it...

...the stinkin' bike fired right up.

Case closed. Well worth the time and sweat. And boy did I sweat in Arizona in July doing this job.

Thanks for that. Makes me feel good to pass on something I thought up, and have someone else like and use it

Hmm. To be honest, I hadn't considered it. It would be relatively simple to wire in a bank angle sensor. In fact, I just looked on my favorite parts source and see Valkyrie units are pretty cheap. I guess the biggest hassle would be finding a suitable centralized location.

Probably a good idea. Thanks for the nudge. I'll probably do it.

But, not today.

I did lay mine done with the electric pump, and no safety shut off, a small fire did occur. Not sure if a shut off would have stopped it. I put it out with some dirt on the side of the road. Not a big deal. And have not installed a tip over switch.....yet.

My pump relay gets ground through the oil pressure switch. No oil pressure and it Shuts off. I also have it fun when the clutch is pulled in for priming.

But, you asked about tip-over. Does this mean that you have both oil pressure fuel cut out and tip over switch?

In my accident, the engine did not shut down right away. So I had oil pressure for a short while. I think any system should shut down the ignition and the pump
