Error in FSM!!!

#1

Post by Sidecar Bob »

The "new" rod for Mr.H's new engine came today and I was reading the section in the GL1100 FSM about the rods & bearings when I noticed that the same illustration is on P. 8-12 where it talks about the connecting rod weight code and on P. 8-16 about the connecting rod I.D. code. Both the '80-83 PDF version and my paper '80-81 manual contain the same error.

I looked it up in the '79-'81 GL1100 Haynes and illustration #23.5 (P.42) says "Bearing selection should be made by referring to the code number (letter indicates weight code).

Good information, John (as always).

I figured I wasn't the first to notice that but I hadn't read it before....
