Re: Stripped alternator cap threads
Sorry. That is pretty rare. Cap usually breaks before the threads would strip. You could try a rubber expandable freeze plug. But I'd only trust a different cover.

Re: Stripped alternator cap threads
If you decide to use an expandable freeze plug. Be sure and paint it before you install it or install it and mask it then paint. They rust easily and look bad.

Re: Stripped alternator cap threads
How'd they strip???
Flywheel bolts have been known to back out and push the cap out. One time, the cap didn't give and the whole rear cover cracked.
Anyway, there may be something else going on.
Or just possibly, you did it yourself? (and if that was me...I'd just sit quietly in a corner while replacing the rear cover).

Re: Stripped alternator cap threads
Honda uses that same cap on lots of bikes and places. I have seen two or three that when being removed it galled/seized and boogered the threads badly and made installing another terribly hard. I do not know what the diameter and thread pitch are but a thread chaser could be created by a good machinist with thread cutting lathe. But it would have to be very short and compact.
