I'm sure this has been discussed before, but does anyone make a Big Bore Kit for a 75' Wing ?
When it comes time to rebuild the motor, wouldn't mind having a little more displacement. Figured someone on this site has done it with good results.

Re: Big Bore Kit ?
Decades ago there were such things but have not heard of any recently. Rebuild parts (bearings esp) can be almost impossible to source. Here in the States it is usually must more cost efficient to replace the engine with a low mileage used. I have gone through a couple that had a specific issue that needed repaired but to actually freshen one up is hard to do.

Re: Big Bore Kit ?
If you think your 1000 is getting tired, the Best bang for your buck right now is to pick up a 1200 block, and do the work to put 1000 heads on it. A few of us have done it. Should prove to be a big kick in the pants improvement.
If you don't want the hassle of putting the heads on, a 1200 fits in the frame with some finesse, and then you have to modify your wiring to make the 1200 work.

Re: Big Bore Kit ?
Appreciate the input from the Experts ! I kind of thought that especially after calling Wiseco and talking to one of the Techs. which said they never made one due to the longevity of the motor.
Had an eye on a 87' 1200 Wing but Craigs Lists owner has not called back after repeatedly calling the listed #. Probably a scam. Anyway will continue to keep an eye out for one preferably running. Would be a Kool Swap !

Re: Big Bore Kit ?
I recall some research on boring out a 1000 some years ago, and the consensus was that the water jacket was a little thin in places if it was bored very much

They're there. Be patient and remember with a 1200 you get a free dipstick to check the oil.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

Re: Big Bore Kit ?
You can bore the 1000 to take the 1100 pistons, it's been done. But you leave a cylinder liner only about 2.50/3.00mm thick. If these were pressed-in liners that would be a big worry, but since they are cast-in maybe not so much. You have to use the 1100 con-rods as well, since the wrist pins on the 1100 are a bigger diameter. The 1100 rods will fit the 1000 crank.
Although the 1200 pistons use the same wrist pins as the 1100 you would have to bore another 0.5mm out, plus the piston crown to wrist pin distance is different.
