Has anyone tried an aluminum radiator like this ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aluminum-radiat ... 9n&vxp=mtr
I'd really like to use this, if it fits and works well.

It would take some fabrication I think. The bracket for the fan is welded to the old one so that would have to be figured out. The overflow drain looks to me to be pointing in the wrong direction?

Whisker, I think I am missing something..

It looks to me that all the mounting requirements for the fan are on that aluminum radiator. On my bike the fan bracket screws into bosses that are welded on the radiator. It looks like those bosses are present on that link.

In fat, I think it looks pretty promising from a fitment standpoint.

That's strange. Some months back I saw this; someone on a forum had bought one and was singing it's praises. This week I was looking for the info on that and couldn't find it amongst my hundreds of saved items. I can't even remember which forum it was; possibly ClassicGoldWings, but I searched that and came up with nothing. Good shout.

Steve, you are right. The outlet is pointing in the wrong direction. I don't thnk that is a major problem as it's just a flexy bit of pipe attaching to it.
Interesting description. I'm wondering how they 'furnace braze' aluminium? That's a new one to me.

I have also seen and wondered about these radiators. My copper one is still in good shape so I'll leave it. I have wondered about cooling fans more. A lot has changed since the 70s as far as electric motors go. They make way lower profile options for transmission and oil coolers that would probably work really well at a lesser draw.

I work for an auto supplier and we make radiators. They are indeed furnace brazed. Imagine a giant conveyor pizza oven that heats to 1000's degrees and cools down to room temp in 30 minuets.

Eric, I think you may be right. The link in the post is long gone though.

Just had another look at that ebay ad.
They use the same picture for both the 1000 and the 1100, although maybe that doesn't mean they supply the same one for either.
Checked out GPI racing too. They only list for the 1100, no 1000

yup, used it on the turbo build. still holding up well, if i remember right I had to get a little creative with the mounts but otherwise it fit great. I run water wetter and distilled water, fan only turns on when idling in 90* plus air temperatures.

Looking at datalogs, temps run in the 150-170 range mostly.

The aluminum radiator is really good-looking! Have you considered polishing it and leaving as much as possible exposed?
