Fitting an oil dipstick for a GL1000

#1

Post by Youngster »

Id like to fit an oil dipstick on my 75' GL next time I do an oil change. In multiple places on the forum there are references to a kit from J C Whitney but all the links to the item are no good - I don't think it's an item they carry any more. Any advice on where I can find such an item?

Personally I don't think much of this for your first post on our site. Youngster was asking about a dipstick. Not cool to jump in and ask about it unless he passes.

If you look over to the left under JBz's avatar you will see a small white rectangle next to the word contact. Left click on that and it will come up with what looks like a "quote" box and a letter. Left click on the quote box and you can send JBz a private message, or PM.

Then you can ask more about his dipstick if you are interested.

I hope that makes sense. ;)

Well.... Since you called me out on this, I'll tell you how it went down.

I sent a pm to Cyborg asking him if he was still making the dipstick kits. He looked for one. But they are all gone.

He then pointed me to this post about a dipstick kit for sale. So I sent the OP a pm.

I didn't know if it was sold or not. But I wanted to let the OP know that I was interested.

Sorry you thought that was a problem.

I'll have to keep that in mind in case I want to continue to be involved with ngw. One of a dozen motorcycle forums that I have participated in over the last 23 years.

BTW, I run our regional MSF program and if you'd like to know more about me go to;

It is understandable and it is also understandable how it looks to the members. Here you are the new guy and youngsters post is not even 12 hours old and from outward appearances it looks like you are trying to snipe his parts.

We are all big boys here and mis comm's happen. No big deal.

honestly I never received the PM from swamppond. It wouldn't have made any difference As I would have given Youngster first dibs anyway. I have this other one if interested SwampWV. It could use some wire brushing , paint and a new crush washer .<stock Honda item> $30.00 shipped. ... jb
