Mirror connector

#1

Post by Steevensi »

I'm nowhere near my bike today but I would like to know something.
On an 1982 interstated that is now naked, I want to install mirrors.
I'm I crazy or did I saw that you can remove a "cover" on starter and light modules and insert a mirror in there?

If yes, I guess that's the way it was originaly done on non fairing GL???
Do you know the diameter of the tread that connects in that hole?

Cheers anim-cheers1

Yes, remove the plugs and install m10-1.25 mirrors.
Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.

I should add, both right-hand thread.
Some motorcycles (I think Yamaha) uses one right and one left-hand.
Great to keep these old 'Wings flying on down the road.

I know you want recommendations. (NO?) Anyway..... Here's what I bought for my trike.
http://www.amazon.com/Emgo-20-21710-Rec ... ailpages00
I like a long stem, so I'm not looking down at the mirror.
Really nice, quality chrome finishes and large surface area mirror glass.
All kinds of adjustment in multiple positions.
Very little vibration at higher speeds.
They have been excellent.

Thanks gltricker.
I really need to go with black mirrors to match with the look of the bike, but I'm sure those work well with your trike.
I need to take some measurement to see where I would need the mirrors to be.
Then I will be able to shop and see which one fit. But I like EMGO products so far, so I might go with one of there models.
Cheers

I found these http://www.amazon.com/dp/B015QSO88A?psc=1
which have the turn indicator in the glass and in front, for cheap.

Didn't buy them, but they look "good enough". Might put something like them on my Valkyrie IS.
It's stock mirrors are just OK.

I like these, but I'm not sur I want to run wires up the handles to feed the blinkers. I already have blinker at the front of the bike.
But the more I look at them, the more I like them. Thanks for sharing them.

And............they don't deliver to beautifull Canada.
