I am in the midst of an engine swap. The dyna from my old engine is getting transplanted to the new one and i'd like to set the timing before I install because access to everything is way better.
the dyna was running the old engine just fine.
I am using a test light as I have before but... I am missing something. The light is not burnt out, I checked that before starting
I have jumper cables to a known good battery.
ground is attached to the engine cases and I have continuity from the dyna base plate to ground per my multumeter. The test light is grounded to the jumper cable ground clamp.
the other lead for the test light is to the "blue" or "yellow" dyna lead.
the (+) jumper cable clamp is standing in for the ignition switch and attached/detached as necessary to the red dyna wire
The light doesn't illuminate at all for either the Blue or Yellow dyna lead.
Any help is appreciated, I am obviously missing something fundamental.
