Replacing a stock Gl1000 coils with stock GL1100 83's??

What to do with the blast?? if I install the whole unit. Should I remove it and splice the two wires together or what??

connect the two black wires together, and forget about using the ballast risistor
1978 custom GL1000
1977 custom with 1200 engine
1985 gl1200

Once you get in to it you will see that you won't need to splice at all. They will just plug in to each other.
