Valve stem diameter?

#1

Post by Track T 2411 »

Can anyone tell me right off hand what size (diameter) valve stem I need for an '81 comstar wheel? I will be mounting tires this coming week and need to order some new stems...

Thanks in advance!

Me too, but ran into a problem just today with one. Notice it has two nuts on it, well....for some reason one came off in the box I had them stored. Looked all over with no luck so headed to Ace Hdwre for a replacement. Again...no luck, threads are too fine for any SAE or Metric. Here in the Orlando area we have a place I refer to as Toys R Us for men.....Skycraft Surplus. If they don't have what you need, you don't need it. I headed over there hoping to find replacement nuts, but none of the metric or SAE stuff would fit. Then it struck me.....there are different sized flat nuts for mounting toggle switches, push buttons, etc., so headed up that aisle. They have multiple drawers of all different sizes....2 for a nickel. I found the right drawer and picked up six, just in case, total cost; 16 cents. Looks and fits exactly like the nuts you see in the picture. So, if you should lose one or more, just go to a shop that handles electrical supplies, you'll find them there. I had called the mfr. and they would only sell me another complete valve.
