Did I Screw up my rear drive??

#1

Post by Ole66chevy »

Took rear tire off and when cleaning the rear drive noticed that I knocked some of the outer ring out of kilter. I tried to straighten them back up as best I could. Anyone know if they will work like this or will I have to replace the outer ring. And dang it I was just getting ready to do the 40 to Phoenix.

The bent ones are on the bottom in the pics.

Those are to lock the adjustable bearing and keep it from "unscrewing'. Bent them back in.
Cheers...

There are 3 sets of 4 tabs each. One set was bent in.
Are you saying they are supposed to be bent in?

They are locking tabs. Bend them down between the teeth of the bearing retainer

It's "Impossible" you damaged the 4 tangs cleaning/installing the r. wheel, as the tangs are bent at the factory. 3 bolts and the guard is off and only goes back on one way.
