Gl1000 valve clearance?

Manual says 0.004" for both exh and int? Last time I thought I set it differently. Anyone have a tech update?

.004" is correct for a 1000 on both valves. On the 1100 the manual calls for .005" on the exhaust side. .004" on the intake.

I thought 75-77 were .004 on both, 78-79 had .004/.005?

It's as Robin said, but others here have opined that looser is better than tighter. Mine are both 0.004".

Yes, it is better to have them a little loose than too tight. Especially on the exhaust side.

sure is better than a burnt valve
