If you go to Dynatek online they will give you an RA number and test it. If it's bad they offer a new one at $76. Go price quality points before you go the points route. There are aftermarket points available but they are poorly engineered and don't last.
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

well my bike like the poster above me eric ...is a modified 1200 motor and not stock at all .... my dft carb is the big one 32-34 ......the jetting is all done with carb drill bits but there are places that sale them .... the weber dft is a super adjustable carb in many spots along the rpm zone ... on my bike it still took a throttle plate mod to get it right for my motor ... seems others dont go there ... ....but as you said ...if the dyna is cutting out and causing trouble it needs to be fixed ... i fix mine by throwing thenm in the trash ..they are just not good enough for me at all for reasons you stated ... my bike has c5 ignition witch to me is best on the planet deal .... dft carb set up right is about as good as it gets ... it is nice having a oldwing that runs like a rocket hunter ...

Ha a rocket Hunter that's great

Yeah I've thought that's how mine rode but I've realized I've been mistaken yet.

Fix by throwing in trash, sounds about right. Bs problems.for something that the company claims is Uber reliable and high tech blah blah lies

So this c5....sounds expensive. I wish I wasn't broke... lol

Lol every time I turn around my dad goes harping at it saying I could have a "whatever" for 5k.... yeah well I didn't have 5k then now or any time between. Yes this thing may be nickle and diming me and harassing me with the work I keep putting in but it's the only way I could have a bike right now....

Unfortunately it seems it ain't worth what I've wound up tangled into it but that is what it may be. lol I never Have understood how guys can turn a profit on a resto. Ah they don't drive em in the process.do a one and done as cheap as possible and don't diddle around fixing broken bits repeatedly. Off load it then before it breaks... more valuable when it's all brand new so the investment pans out. Lol.

The only way to turn a profit on a resto is to find a fool for a buyer.

After going to a ton of auction it appears that most lose anywhere from 25-50% of the money they put in a resto. Unless it's something like this one was : http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1062 ... le-3200000
