Is there a good way to evaluate one besides resistance check and possibly use a megger to verify the insulation. The coil resistance is so low a normal ohm meter will not do a good job and I do not know of any dynamic check that would be available to most of us. There are likely some real electrical wizards in this group that may have an idea.

That works as long as you can find one. Honda no longer makes even the 1200 stator. There are some out there though.

electrosport was the seller. But where was it manufactured. Sometimes it's just better to bit the bullet, and go OEM

Got the motor out and pulled the stator.
This is what I found. I had pinched one of the wires between the stator and the cover.
Lesson learned. Electrosport is in the clear. The stator tests good while on the bench so I will wrap the damaged wire and reinstall. Then I will retest it after it is in the cover.
You may want to pin the photo for others to learn from.
Haste makes waste.
