Gasket for clutch adjustment cover/lifter cover?

#1

Post by SMLE »

I can't find the little cover that you remove for doing a basic clutch adjustment on the parts fiche. I think it's caller the "lifter cover". The gasket on mine was not in very good shape the last time I did a clutch adjustment and I'd like to just get a new one. Can anybody tell me where to look for it, or give me the part number?

Thanks.

Oops.
It's for my 1976 GL1000. And it's the gasket for the small lifter cover that you remove to do basic clutch adjustments. Not the clutch cover itself. I found that gasket and have it saved to my wish list.

Try this link, it's for a 77 model, the site didn't go to 76!
Not really sure what you are after, but sure someone here will be able to help if I can't.

Close, but no cigar. I went to that site and searched there.

I'm looking for the gasket for this;

The manual refers to it as the "lifter cover."

I just cut one out of 5mm Neoprene foam/rubber, works perfect. That cover is mainly a dust cover so pretty much anything will do the job. The Neoprene is very compressible so that helps.
I used roof sheeting washers that have a rubber backing for the bolts.

Well I finally found the cover. I had to go page by page, they hid it on the "HANDLE LEVER / CABLE / SWITCH" page of the fiche. There is no separate part shown for the gasket and the cover is not available.

Glad you found it, Part of the fun looking and sourcing parts, maybe the neoprene idea is the way forward if it's only a dust seal. Good luck.

I have made the same journey. It's no longer available. You can find good used ones off of parts bikes, but actually I admire the neoprene idea. dancr dancr

Neoprene or an O-ring the right diameter and glue it to the cover with Yamabond.
