I'm looking at buying an Aspencade for a friend. It's supposed to run poorly but starts. I figure I should find the air filter and prime it on a set of jumper cables. I'm sure the owner has no previous service records, timing belts are a given. I looked at it last year, and I seem to remember it having a ton of Drag Specialties chrome, lots of lights, maybe a hitch, and everything out front. Seems the seat was usable. Been covered, asking price is $700, and if all looks good, will be offering five.
Any suggestions as to particulars I should look into?
What to look for when buying a 1200a?

Three wire connector from alternator to reg/rec. If it's been hard wired, how long ago?
Whatever I suggest here should be given ample time for a moderator to delicately correct. I apologize in advance.

be aware that 84 has ignition parts at the back of the engine & are a royal pia to get at, compared to 85 & up

Ouch. $150 in kits, hope all the rubbers survive. Think five hundred is too much given condition?
