I only have a Haynes and when I CHECK the drawing I can't tell what that is I guess it's the
back of the valve seat. I thought I might have the wrong seals and would ask.

if you put the valve into the head, the valve seal goes over the end of the valve, and down on the valve guide

under where the spring goes, big washer on first, then the valve seal, then 2 spings, and the valve top keeper along with the two little in the how do I get them in there keepers....

small amount of vasiline on the two keepers will hold them while you uncompress the spring.

Big washer????!!!!! I always thought that was the spring seat. ;) lolol

Put a little oil on the top of the guide before you push the seal on. This will help it go on easier. Also make sue it goes all the way down. Then when you put the valve back in hold the seal down with your finger till the valve pops through. If they are too snug the valve can push them of the top of the guide a little.

Detailed step by step in my 40 build thread. I need to bookmark that thread so I don't need to keep chasing it down.

Thank you. I have been searching for a week to find a tutorial. I knew I had read your
2013 posts on subject but couldn't find. Then those 2011 ones are exactly step by
step what I needed. I don't have a big service book and the info off classic GW site
is a pictorial guide book page by page, but not like this at all. I didn't know what I
was going to find exactly when I took off cam holder. So I was not going
to re seal valves, and lap them. I never found fogeys tut in shoptalk. I will look for it to.
What a relief. Thanks again Pierce. And all you guys for helping me.
