Starter brushes

#1

Post by wildbill1962 »

Where is a good place to order a set of starter brushes for my 83 GL1100 ?

I have seen the ones on eBay, but sometimes getting parts off the bay is a crap shoot.

Thanks in advance
Bill

some of the better equipped hardsware stores have an assormment of brushes to repair powertools and such.
I go to the local ACE hardware & dig untill I find something close. It is easy to file them to fit
You can fix a 300$ alternator or starter for 8$

They are still available from Honda last I checked and they have the proper gauge brush leads/connectors and brush material ( Copper, Carbon, Graphite blend ) to carry the high amps. Around $20 I believe for a pair. A little bit pricy but last a very long time. IMHO

A huge +1 on this tip which is a good fix for any generator, alternator or motor in need of a carbon brush replacement.
