Front Blinkers not working

#1

Post by SamIAm »

Installed my new (aftermarket) 7v regulator couple of days ago....no problems, but then decided to do some clean up work of the wiring harness in the headlight area. The last owner had bags, windjammer, etc and I removed them awhile back but didn't take a lot of time with the wiring and just now getting around to doing a little clean up of splices, etc. Now I have problems. I only disconnected and reconnected one wire at a time and am pretty sure everything is as it was but now the rear turn signals work but the front turn signals don't. Here what happens, when I turn on the signal, the rear signal blinks but the front signal (which is lit as a running light) goes out but does not flash. Same thing on both sides. This seems really familiar but if I had the problem before I don't remember what I did to fix it. Anybody??? Help?? Thanks.

Go here and download a color wiring harness diagram. It will help you. They refer to it as: "Honda Goldwing GL1000 1975 to 1977 Color Schematic-49F70.jpg (603.18 kB)"

On subject.
Look for your ground I had the same problem and it was a ground issue 78 and eirlier front turn sugnals are grounded to the light fixture through the stem and headlight holder and through the headlight bucket. make sure you have good connections through out and in the green wires on the harness.

You nailed it taylorsel.....it hit me in the middle of the night last night. I haven't remounted my headlight yet. Didn't think about it as I was just cleaning up wiring and decided to test before I put the headlight back on. I knew it seemed familiar....think I've made the mistake before. Sure appreciate the post. This CRS syndrome is for the birds.
