Well...there goes the old guy making sense again.
Jenvey IDF throttle bodies on Randakk manifolds, Microsquirt controller, and programmable nitrous. The frame will still suck but so long as I'm going straight it wouldn't bother me one bit.
I think there is talent enough around here to pull it off. Just maybe not all in one person.

A recurring theme.

But then comes that day when a really annoying person pulls up next to you and gives your old iron "THE SNEER". It is moments like that where the price of entry becomes insignificant as "THE SNEER" becomes "The look of disbelief" way friggin' back there in your mirrors. If you bother with mirrors.

Well my old beat up looking 75 has turned more than a few sneers upside down locally. Several zoom splats and a few V-Twins have learned the hard way what a Wing can do. It is terrible fun dancr dancr dancr dancr

Oh yes, the fun it is... I've even been told that they liked my idea of builing a bike around a wing engine...they'd never seen an old naked one before...

I don't understand the PayPal hatred. :?:

Weight and aerodynamic drag are the mortal enemies of speed. Shedding 20 pounds and making things slippery can be the same as a 6WHP bump. That's noticeable.

All this being said, I find mine to be borderline frightening from 3000-8000 in first gear, second gear, and third gear.

0-90 happens in like 500 feet. That's not enough for you? :-D

ok ok me neither.
The bike is essentially just another bike... The pilot is CRAZY.

CYBORG wrote:always a good topic for conversation, but for the cost of doing a serious horse power gain you could buy a bike that is already faster. and even if you decided to build a wing engine with all the go fast stuff on it, the frame would be a weak link. and then you would have to deal with the brakes to pull you down from these fantastic speeds, and all this horsepower. so why not start out by installing an 1800 wing engine in the 1000 frame, with a busa front end and brakes, and a gem rearend set. 16" rear wheel modified to take a 200 tire, tuned exhaust, and a little nitrous. please post pictures as you progress

Might end up looking a bit like this...

Like Cyborg suggested ... save the Wing for long trips and cruising the Fall colors.

Save the money and pick up a new/used one of these:

Either way, you're gonna pay. I like tinkering with the old bikes and you can fool people with them. A 'Busa doesn't fool anybody.
When the weather turns I've got an appointment at the Ducati dealer. I'm under orders not to buy one but I'm sure as hell going to get my demo ride on a Diavel (even though at 162hp out of the box - they don't fool anyone either).
