Clutch cable replacement

#1

Post by Gowing »

I'm not sure if this is the place to post this.
Today I replaced my clutch cable, and used the tip that I read to route
New cable by attaching to old cable. It worked very well.
After removing old cable, it had bRoken at pull on handlebar.
I pulled old cable out of old sheath I taped new cable to old and when I pulled it out it threaded new right behind. I think the new cable my have a harder pull than the old although.

My photo sure looks funny to me upside down.
I'll try another just for total confusion

You need to eyeball every inch of your newly installed cable for kinks, awkward bends etc., and then lubricate it. It should not be harder to pull than your old one.

While the above statement would be true in most cases, a few years ago I replaced the clutch friction discs and springs in the '78 with a kit supplied by Barnett. The springs are "heavier" than the originals or the EBC kits and require more pulling effort at the clutch lever.
