Oil leak from water pump drip hole

#1

Post by KYpondman »

Kevin, to whom I sold #2 82 has a problem and no internet access so I'm posing this question for him. At the time I sold him the bike I discovered PO had put screw in drip hole. When I removed it oil ran out. I gave him a new pump and George Fix gasket kit. He say he's replace it 4 times (even used new Honda O-rings and crush washers) and still has oil drip. I've searched on here but have not found a similar problem except as relates to crush washers. He also says old pump appeared in good condition (no slop). Any ideas appreciated.

thats a tuff one. oil from the weep hole is normally a bad pump or crush washer. there is a picture showing the flow of both oil and water thru the water pump, that has been posted a couple of times. have you ck'd shop talk for water pump replacement

three ways oil can get there.... bad seal, pinched O-ring or crush washers.... unless of course the is a crack or something

Thanks all, I printed out that stuff for him earlier and I was wondering about a crack also. I'll get the info to him and suggest he look for crack. I have spare parts if he needs them.
