Powder Coating Wheels

#1

Post by delling3 »

Working on my 76 GL. Running stock spoke wheels. The front cleaned up very nicely, but the rear is resisting my efforts. I have seen powdercoated Lesters, and Comstars, and I know that people have powdercoated spoked rims/hubs. My question is whether this can be done with the wheel fully "built up" or if it is necessary to unlace the rim from the hub for PC'ing. Anyone done this?

I'm not gonna be much help with your question but I considered powder coating my spoked wheels on the '77. Being as the powder coat on my '78 Lester wheels is peeling off after probably a lot of years as it was the PO that had 'em done, I elected to paint instead figuring it's easier to touch up a problem area. The powder coat wouldn't be easy at all.

My 2 cents but free to you. :)
