I bought my 1977 GL1000 in 2009. I have really enjoyed riding it, but it has had a slight problem with the carburetors. It has had a slight hesitation off of idle and really has not had much power below 3000 RPMs. I have researched carburetor kits and had determined that I would use the Randakk's parts. Even though I have done many repair jobs on my motorcycles, I have not done a complete carb rebuild and was hesitant to do it myself.
After looking through this forum, I noticed some people talking about Pistol Pete, so I went to his website. I notice that he was recommended by Randakk, so I decided to give him a try. I e-mailed Pistol Pete and received details from Moose about the costs and procedures. I thought about it and decided to give it a try.
I pulled off my carburetor assembly using Pete's detailed instructions and shipped them to Pete. While I had the carbs off I replaced the throttle cables, the choke cable, fuel filter, and fuel lines. I really liked the fuel filter that I bought from Randakks.
I received my carburetors back 14 days from the day that I shipped them and put them back on. I am extremely happy with the improvements to the running of my bike. All I need now is a little sunshine so I can get in more riding time. If anyone is having carburetor problems, I highly recommend Pistol Pete.

Re: Carburetor Rebuild
Is Pete still providing a strong warning with the rebuilt carbs not to connect them to a dirty fuel tank?
I am also very pleased with PP.

Yes, he is. Here's hoping that Saukum has a spanking clean tank attached to those PP carbs.roachb wrote:Is Pete still providing a strong warning with the rebuilt carbs not to connect them to a dirty fuel tank?

+1 on Pistol Pete. He did my carbs about 2 years ago. No problems. I echo the the other comments in the thread about a clean tank.
