Battery Acid on my pipes!!!
Is there a way to repair exhaust pipes that have had battery acid drip on them? I tried some steel wool and chrome polish with no luck. Suggestions??

Take them to a ceramic coater...then you can choose either silver or flat black...
And be sure to change out that liquid acid battery for a gel type to prevent further incidents.

Are silver or flat black the only options??? I would love to have them done in white to match my paint scheme.Motowalt wrote:Take them to a ceramic coater...then you can choose either silver or flat black...

Re: Battery Acid on my pipes!!!
Did the acid eat through the chrome or just discolor it badly? Had a battery do that to mine before changing over to a gel type. Did not eat through the chrome but did discolor it and I found that a paste called semi chrome with some 0000 steel wool cleaned the spot very nicely. Won't look like it did but does blend in better.
If it has gone through the chrome then what has been suggested with the ceramic coating would be a good option.

Re: Battery Acid on my pipes!!!
When I was a LEO, I got a call to go to the local high school regarding a malicious mischief. Seems that a kid made a deal with a local plating shop to chrome the front and rear bumpers of his Chevy in exchange for some tools. The shop did the plating and the kid installed his new bumpers. But, he never came through with the tools. So, the owner of the shop went to the kids school with a bucket of battery acid and painted it all over the kids shiny new chrome bumpers. It was very ugly.

That sounds like no case, to me. Shop owner made a deal...Kid didn't hold up his end of the bargain...Shop owner took his chrome back...Done deal.Placerville wrote:When I was a LEO, I got a call to go to the local high school regarding a malicious mischief.
