I am afraid that my Vetter fairing will be on my wing for a while. I bought it with a fairing so I will leave it that way.
Great job and workmanship on your windscreen!

I have a tip for you guys with shields. If you want to add lights to your wing, and not look to obvious during the day, you can buy a kit that puts a LED strip on the side of your sheild, or you can use my trick. It works pretty well as I have done it on an 1100 and a 1500. Go to your local parts store, i.e.: O'reilly, AutoZone, Advance Auto, or the like, buy a small LED strip, length and color is up to you. If you can't find the color you're looking for, you can check out www.streetglow.com, but anyway. Remove the sheild, lay the light strip across the bottom mount, with the light portion up, replace the sheild with the light portion pressed against the bottom of the sheild. After wiring the light up, either hard wired or to a switch, your choice, turn out the lights in your shop, if you have one, otherwise wait for it to get dark, and then hit the newly added lights on your bike. If placed properly, the light should shine through your sheild, but you will only be able to see the light around the outside part or if you have an etched sheild like some of the 1200, 1500, and 1800's I've seen, it will light that up as well. The last time I replaced a turn signal bulb on mine, as mine is a fully dressed 1100, the wire to my led's broke so I don't have any pics, but my dad's 1500 has one, so as soon as I can, I'll get a pic of that and show what it looks like. Just an idea for a little customization.

I too am not sure I would want to live without a fairing. I have a full Vetter-dressed "80 GL1100. Even has the lowers. The other I took a ride in 40 degree weather. I was pretty cozy in my full-face helment, full leathers and thick riding gloves. Didn't even know it was cold. My fairing will add 3-4 extra months to my riding season here in Michigan, and I don't have to brush (the bugs off) my teeth anymore....

Aren't you getting snow up there yet?
One thing about living in the lower desert like here se of beautiful downtown Furnace Arizona, is if I want to see snow I can drive to it. Only about 45 miles or so.
However, having lived in snow country for 38 of my years, I really have no desire to live in it again.
You haven't really lived until you try to drive an MG Midget in a blizzard!

Hey, thanks guys.
I'm glad now that I documented this so well. When we took our little tumble into the bar pit the windshield and frame went bye-bye. Well, actually it just got broke and bent to s**t and Shupnfish trashed it later.

Re: Is This a Sin? (a windshield)
Last weekend I cut out a rather large one for the 76. One of my neighbors was trashing some nice plexiglass and I save it from the landfill. One piece had some major scratches so it allowed some practice in design and cutting. I'm happy with the end result but cannot seem to get a good clear picture to post. The old shield was not pushing the wind far enough to clear the top of my helmet. Plus it was allowing too much wind between the shield and the gauges. I did find a blade that did a real good job of cutting. When I get a good picture to post, I will also show the blade.
