Bob, I suggested the “like” button feature here a couple of years ago and got a lot of very snide remarks about it, I think it would be a great feature that most other forums I frequent have,,,, great idea !

Agreed! Athough there is the option of the 'thumbs-up' in the emojies: thup, tumb2, or even respekt2

You never know how a project like this will work out until you get everything together. Today, I got it finished and everything fit just right. The only thing I need to do for the future is figure out a better way to mount the piece that holds the gauge.
It works, but I can definitely improve it. I have done several electric fuel pump installations, but this one is my favorite. The bike is my 1975 GL1000 "5016" that I restored a few years ago. Look at the bottom picture closely and zoom in to see how the fuel line is routed. The fuel pump was almost made to fit in that location and the bracket is easy to make. The wiring harness tucks in underneath the carburetors.

Nice integration for sure. Looks like it belongs there.

I think another change I am going to make is the gauge. This is a 52mm standard oil pressure gauge, but I am going to make the bracket for a 1 1/2" (38mm) liquid filled gauge. Having a shock/vibration resistant gauge is a better choice for this location.

Looks like was made just for that purpose, very nice indeed. Love seeing the things you make and how you integrate them.

I am happy that you like my projects, but you would be surprised at how much I fail when trying out ideas. The reason I usually succeed is because God gave me an extra dose of determination. People don't see the trial and error process and the in-depth thought process I go through when creating something. I run into many problems and sometimes the solutions come in the middle of the night. Over the past 35 years, I have developed a lot of software and I believe the problem solving skills that I developed have helped me with these motorcycle projects.

Back to the gauge project...I am not sure if I will call this one a success yet because the gauge may not survive due to vibration. I thought about using a liquid filled gauge, but I learned that these need to be mounted as vertically as possible. On the GL1000, the gauge needs to be horizontal, so the liquid filled gauge won't work. Maybe a digital gauge would be a better option or maybe just a clock or something else. More thinking required :).

We would all be dumb as nails if not for all the past mistakes. When it is easy, we learn nothing.

I give credit and blame to my mother for getting me started in my hobbies. At about age 5, she made the mistake of buying me a Handy Andy tool kit. These tools were actual tools. My kit had a saw, a ball peen hammer, claw hammer, screw drivers, etc. In less than 10 minutes after receiving my tools I went to work on a chest of drawers. I climbed up on top and started sawing the top of it. The saw worked great and I was so proud of myself. My mom, was very forgiving and I guess she saw some potential in me. I still have the ball peen hammer in my garage and use it almost every day. It is now in pretty bad shape, but every time I use it, I think of her. You needed to smile this morning :).
