I would consider another location for a second bracket, if we can decide on the perfect location. I will still make the bracket pictured above, even if I make an alternate bracket. I have never banged my shin on the pump, but I can see how it could happen. Where is the perfect place for a mount?

When I first bought my yellow '76, it had an electric fuel pump tucked up behind the engine where the crank breather "puke tank" lives. It was a nice tidy setup, and the tach drive was retained by leaving that bit of housing and blanking off the open end with a flat plate. If I wasn't going for period correctness on that bike I'd still have it.

Where else to put it is a good question. It would be best if the location doesn't require a lot of extra plumbing so it would probably be best if it is somewhere between the petcock and the carbs' fuel inlet, probably downstream of the fuel filter. I'd like to say move the filter a bit closer to the petcock and the pump in front of the tank on the right side (along the lines of what Lucien described while I was typing this
) but I have no idea what to attach it to there.
I wonder if it could be mounted under the shelter? I'm sure there would be room on a 1000 if the kickstarter wasn't there because I mounted a pair of Harley ignition coils there on my '77; In fact, I attached the coils to the side of the shelter frame with strap brackets you might be able to bolt the pump itself to that too. There is no shelter frame on an 1100 so a bracket would be needed to attach it to the frame.
On the other hand, if it is for your bike and it doesn't bother you where it is I'd say go for it.

Mine is going on using a 1200 bracket in the same location. Seems reasonable to me correct as the filter is just to the left of it.

Click Full Editor & Preview, scroll down to where it says Options and Attachments and click Attachments, then Add files. Browse to the pic you want to share and upload it. It will appear in the attachments list and you can either chose where you want it to appear in any text you type in or just leave it and it will appear below what you type.

Most people probably don't want to remove the original fuel pump mounting bracket, so I think the best way to deal with the mount is to find some new useful purpose for it. Half of my solution is to make the fuel pump mount a place mount an oil pressure gauge (or some other 52mm gauge). This bracket would serve three purposes:
1. Blocks the oil from the hole.
2. Provides a place for the prime switch.
3. Provides a place for a gauge. The small gauge will be positioned where you won't bang your shin on it.
The picture below is only half of the solution and this is just a sample (the actual one will be grey or black). The other half of the solution is to provide a place to mount a fuel pump and this will be under the tank. The hole used to mount the filter will be used to mount a fuel pump. I am designing a mount and will post pictures soon.

I decided to make the mount capable of mounting a gauge or a fuel pump.
I like the gauge option best because I found a great way to mount a Holley 12-425 style fuel pump. I really like the specs of the Holley 12-425 and it is readily available. Here is what I came up as far as a mounting point. You have to drill and tap a hole in the case, but it is very easy to do this. The hardest part is removing the carbs, and this only took me about 20 minutes.
I made a "plug-N-pray" wiring harness that will allow me to easily replace any part that fails. The oil pressure gauge that I selected is a mechanical type that will connect to the same place as the oil pressure sensor using a tee adapter. I will post some more pictures once I install everything. I will also put together some documentation on how to do this modification and I might put together a kit, I don't know. Here is the wiring harness I made today.
