I try

Also, I've explained this many times on cx500formu over the years. You wouldn't believe how many people over 250 Lb buy a 500cc bike and then need to make its suspension support them and a passenger.....

at this point for simplicity's sake, i think i'm going to order an oem air inlet and plan on putting the crossover tube back stock.

but for my education on this sort of thread - i assume these are some sort of tapered "pipe thread" as opposed to "bolt thread", right? I've seen some metric pipe plugs out there, but as of yet still not sure what the TP is on these..

So I received the fitting:

Wasn’t expecting the outboard side to be threaded / but more like a conventional inflation inlet. What additional sort of fitting do I need to use this with a tire inflator?

The fitting you have is all you need. It will be the same as the end on a tire inflation stem. The outboard end is threaded so that you can place a cap on it to keep grime out. Put an air chuck on it to fill as you do a tire but don't use a compressor as it takes very little air to bring the PSI up to the level you want. I use a smallish bicycle hand pump and bring it up to approx 14 PSI but mine is on an 83, don't know what your recommended pressure is.

great info. will that thread accept a normal tire stem cap?
