Brake rotors
Does anyone know of a larger diameter disk from another make or bike that will fit an 83 interstate wheel?

Re: Brake rotors
Assuming you find such a disc (I don't know of any) you then have a problem with moving the calipers out to accomodate it (them). You would also need to make sure the offset is the same or you compound the problem.

Wouldn't it matter what calipers you are using?UK_Andy wrote:Im fitting different calipers which is part why I asked the question.Old Fogey wrote:Assuming you find such a disc (I don't know of any) you then have a problem with moving the calipers out to accomodate it (them). Last I knew they have different spacing.

Re: Brake rotors
Im using Fazer 600 fourpot calipers and making a mount for them to work with the GL1100 discs, so It wouldnt be more difficult if the disc was bigger seeing as im making mounts anywaySnoBrdr wrote:Wouldn't it matter what calipers you are using?UK_Andy wrote:Im fitting different calipers which is part why I asked the question.Old Fogey wrote:Assuming you find such a disc (I don't know of any) you then have a problem with moving the calipers out to accomodate it (them). Re: Brake rotors
In that case, you only have the bolt hole spacing and the offset wo worry about. Depending on what you find, it may be possible to re drill for the bolt holes. The offset will be more problematic. Enough to clear the wheel but not too much that you can't get the wheel into the forks. Or are you intending changing forks too maybe?

Scrapped the Fazer brakes and found a bolt on set from a cb900f

What did you wind up swapping? The calipers from both the 82 CB900F & 83 GL1100I are the same. Honda used those same 2-piston calipers on a variety of models from 81 to 87. Did you just have bad calipers?

Mine have unequal size pistons left and right and these are the same both sides.82_GL1100 wrote:What did you wind up swapping? The calipers from both the 82 CB900F & 83 GL1100I are the same. Re: Brake rotors
Thx. I forgot the the 83 GL's have linked brakes. The 82 GL calipers are the ones that were used on so many Honda models.
I went to 83 GL1100 forks and wheels on my 82, but kept the 82 brakes, as I prefer un-linked brakes..
Did leave the brakes linked, or did you separate them?

I delinked the system ages ago. My calculations work it that this should be better.82_GL1100 wrote:Thx. I forgot the the 83 GL's have linked brakes. The 82 GL calipers are the ones that were used on so many Honda models.

I got rid of the anti dive system also. But that was mainly due to looks
