Fresh meat

#1

Post by Wing-nut »

Hey all, just introducing myself as a new member from England. Had lots of bikes in my time but never a Goldwing until I picked up this £150 partially stripped GL1100 of '81? '82? vintage.

At this stage in its life it deserves an easy retirement, no such luck on my watch I'm afraid! Looks like the PO had started to make it into a chopper until he died, not sure if I will carry on down this route as I'm more into the cafe racer look.

I would love to throw a set of wire wheel on as I prefer the aesthetics of them. Research thus far suggests I'll have to swap the final drive for an earlier unit and modify the swingarm. However, the priority at the moment is to source all the missing parts (starter motor, solenoid, rear axle, disc, caliper to name a few) and, hopefully, get her purring once again.

Thinking 81, single pot brake caliper, hard to see. If it's twin, it's 82 .
