Thanks!
I've decided to keep this one.

It runs and rides pretty nice and actually feels small and nimble.
after riding Valks, big baggers ect... that's not much of a surprise.

Pulling the brakes completely apart and cleaning them up was the biggest task to get this bike back on the road.
Not difficult, just time consuming.

I must say that imho,
the 78-79's are the best looking of the stock oldwings.

I really like the look of the early comstars, the gauges on the shelter, and the shiny black and gold paint.

The forecast is for temps in the 40's the next few days so we will be able to put some more miles on it this weekend. :2thumbs

It's time to stop talking about this bike and start putting some miles on it.
I'll end this thread with one last pic:

Very nice original bike. Mine has a sidecar attached to it that is getting a 1200 heart put into it sometime soon.

My '79 was the best rider - seemed more refined. Luggage rack on the back was great utility. Rode it more than the '06 1800 for <30 mile trips in summer.

Browsing the forum, I was like... "Oh look, someone commented on my thread".

I then saw that my bike is the April BOTM.
That's awesome !

I don't know what the actual process is for choosing the bike of the month.
But I appreciate it, it's nice to have my work acknowledged.

Thanks gentlemen !

You don't see originals like that very often. Almost all of the front headlight ears on the 79 were sawed off by the owners when they mounted the fairing. I have only seen one other 1979 with them still on. If you can't find the turn signals, send me a PM because I think I have a set.
