LOL Well did track down the mysterious yellow .... ended up going to the regulator which turned out to be separate from the rectifier (used to the all in one units like on my CX). Well the unit sure works good, now just have to figure out if the coils are going, idles nice and low (600-800) when cold, but once the thermostat opens it will die at anything below 1600 :(

Only issue now is it will not run at proper idle, as anything below 2K will have it stall. Set the carbs up and they balanced out ok, but still doesnt want to run below 2K (did have it running well at about 600RPM if the tach is accurate).

Snipped a bit!!............ Carbs balanced out OK ??????... Did you you gauges to do the balance? and im sure that the balance/equalisation of the carbs are done at idles speeds 800-1200rpm... IMO, anything above that is usually dictated by jet/needle sizes.. You really need to get it to walk before you start it running!!

Very often a engine that looses it idle once warm is related to a Vacuum leak. As the parts get hot and expand the leak gets worse Start by taking it to full temp then checking the intake runner clamps. The OEM style have to be ridiculously tight.

Thanks for the info, seems to be a carb issue as #1 is not running (air mix screw does nothing on #1, and can be either closed or removed with no difference ... plus #1 manifold stays cold so I know the cylinder isnt firing). Will eliminate the easy first (will put new plugs in and check the bowl for gas) before pulling the carbs.
i did try to sync them (yes with gauges) but only tried to get it close as it was better than nothing (since it wouldnt idle low). Now that I have confirmed #1 isnt firing I have somewhere to look.
