For future reference when splines are worn, it works better than the pry bars. I had to do it to one of my Lesters.

Ordered a better condition front fender from Ebay, and after comparing it with the one on the bike,
Looks like I've got a repainted Standard. :(

I checked the paint code and it's the same for all the "Candy wine berry red" GL1200's.
'84 Standard and Interstate, '85 I and '86 I, all R114CU.

The bike's color is much more of a purple-ish red.
I like the color, but will never be able to match it and I really prefer it to be original.

"Purple" fender on left...

You might notice also the pin stripe is on the side of the painted one where as it's on the top of the replacement.

And finally, I don't think Honda would have sent bikes out with side covers like this....

Oh well, I'll piece together the original parts as I can.

After replacing the blown 7v regulator with the solid state fix, I've gotten the fuel gauge to work.
Will go with the cleaner/longer arm version, I'll just need to remember that when it shows low fuel, it means LOW fuel!

Tested just fine.

Wow! Gotta love a guy that still uses an old Simpson DMM. Bravo Mr. Wog.

Bravo!

And nice Standard, too, by the way.

:)

Kinda like guys (and gals) that still ride and appreciate the old nekid GL's.

Sure the new modern Goldwings are nice, but........

I still have a 260 that my Dad gave me back in the 60s. But I gotta admit I mostly grab the Digital stuff these days when I need a meter to electrically measure something . But the Simpson is proudly displayed in my shop.

my 86 (bought new in 88) was multiple repainted parts off the shelf. Honda repainted parts, and sold them new

I'm just finding too many things that scream PO paint job.
I'll probably just stick with the color it's painted for now. Just touch up what I can with the closest color I can find.
As for the meter, I still like using analog when I'm measuring range. Nice to watch the needle, cheap entertainment! lolol

Mr wog. I was curious, your page says several from 1975 to 1986.
How many bikes do you own at this time? I think I remember an inventory a while back.
But I forgot.
