shelter removal

#1

Post by zipster »

I've got a short in the wiring loom under the false gas tank shelter (intermittent turn signal glitch). Any recommendations on removing the shelter? Can it be unbolted and dangled off to the side with wires still attached, or does all wiring need to be removed?

Thanks,
Ray

You can just unbolt it and hang it off to the side with pieces of baling wire or coathanger. Take pictures as you disassemble so you have a record of where everything came from. It isn't a difficult job but it's time consuming with all the different parts. Leaving it hanging may allow you to power up the bike to do more chasing of the short.

2 bolts on each side. One stud with a nut under the front part of the lid. Easy to find if you look. Do you have a manual?
