I can relate to your pain... the first 1100 carb rebuild I did went perfect, by the book, spotless, checking everything twice... then ended up on and off the bike four times. I narrowed it down to the #3 carb (but it could've been any of them) but still couldn't find the culprit. My solution was replacing the one carb body. One and done. Never did figure out why, just a devil carb, lol!

That can happen. I've had a couple GL carbs do that and several KZ carbs. I have replaced the bodies and used the same internals and they were fine. Something inside a passage has to break down. Doesn't matter how much you clean it, it still doesn't run right. Several years ago a good friend of mine called it "carb syndrome". that name sticks to this day.
