Hi i'm Carl and yesterday i bought a 1976 GL1000 or a 1976 GL1000 LTD i can't tell, specially since the registration says 1976 GL100 xD

i'm a newbie in every sense of the word but i love to learn and will be here until this bike is 100% perfect and then i'll just buy another and bug you again :)

I currently drive a 1981 CX500 Custom and i hope the goldwing will give me more power :)

i'll post pictures soon

well im not a pro on these bikes, although i tell my woman i am... but the gauges on top of the false tank, and the setup make it look like a '78 or '79, the registration might be on a 76 like you said, but previous owner definately changed alot if thats what its suppose to be, that i recall, its not hard, but annoying to switch from the 2 different false tanks of the '70s era... but it looks amazing

That's a very nice 1979 there, better check your vin on the frame and make sure it matches your title!

Welcome from Indy! Sure doesn't look anything like my '76, though I do like what it has going on.

I came from a cb550 and its like night and day!

From the pics it looks like a 78 or 79. An LTD was a limited production bike made in 1976. There were 2000 of them imported into the US. They were just a dressed up 76. They had a special maroon paint, different seat and lots of chrome parts. I don't think that is what you have. You can tell if the engine is a 75 to 77 if it has a kick starter mechanism on the rear of the engine.

That bike looks familiar, think it's been seen here before. While it's not an LTD, you could say it is a limited edition model. Welcome to NGW.

Looks like a mixture of 2 or more bikes, I suspect 1976 and 1979. I circled some clues.

Green = 1976
Red = 1979
Orange = aftermarket

I suspect a 1976 frame and engine with 1979 and aftermarket parts bolted on. I'd ride it!

not really surprizing, a lot of wings had different engine put in over the years.... owner ruined one, etc. But I bet this bike was a project someone put together. Doesn't mean it is a bad bike, just means it is a collection of parts. Do have to wonder what year carbs it has
