Hello just curious if wheels from other GL models will fit my 77. I saw a GL100 dresser with a set of 80-82 wheels or at least that is what they looked like.

My wheel spokes are really rusty and want to change them.

Anything from the rear of 75-77 will fit and work fine. The front is where it gets sticky. 75-77 are fine. 78-79 require some modifications. Best there is to replace the front forks and all, including brakes and fender. There is also the Lester wheel option. That's what I have on my 76. The rear wheels have been pretty easy to find, but the front to fit the 75-77 is much rarer and more expensive.

Until you start trying to fit stuff from different years you simply cannot comprehend how many parts were changed over the period of 5 years, especially if you include all the differences for different world markets.
I don't know how Honda managed to make any money at all off the first series of Goldwing .

When they went to the 78/79 they moved the speedo gear to the other side(can't get straight in my head left or right). Anyway, the cable support for the 75-77 is on one side and the 78-79 is on the other. Otherwise, I know of no other difference in the fenders. The 78/79 bikes have different brake calipers. They can be made to work by shimming, but I haven't done any of that so can't say more than that. My brother in law had a 77 and a 78 parts bike. When he found out the 77 calipers were in seriously bad shape, he put the entire front end off the 78 on it. It's a neat bike. It's a 77 with 78 front end, 78 engine/tranny, 78 wiring harness and 78 false tank.
