Anyone try the IGT/IGF toyota coils yet?
IGT is trigger to fire the coil.
IGF is a return signal to show that the coil has fired.
Small 4-pin coils that need a igniter/amplifier.
A friend gave me a pair of them and thought I'd ask here to see if anyone has used them on a 1000.
Toyota P/N 90919-02224
'98-'99 Toyota Corolla

The return signal may be of use for a electronic tach, maybe for FI or Nitrous timing, etc..
Just curious.

Do you know what kind of signal the igniter is expecting? you may be able to adapt the points to output a square wave and trigger the coils.

Well, I don't know these coils. I'm thinking the electronics in them are meant for the return signal for the fuel injection via the computer. There is a seperate igniter that fires the coils as I'm aware.
I've a igniter from a Kawasaki that I was thinking of trying. They take a unfamiliar ignition wire termination, so I'll be looking for a set of plug wires long enough for a GL.

I had read on another bike forum obout these coils where the individual was having problems getting the coils to fire above 5K RPM for some reason. Could be the input signal was corrupted for some reason at/above that RPM. Don't know. The thread was incomplete.

May be best left alone for right now. I've enough projects going.

hmm. EFI Ignition signals are usually 5 volt square wave (GM HEI, DIS, Ford EDIS, etc). May be an interesting project.

I had seen a square-wave signal referenced to these coils somewhere. I don't know how important it is to have for these coils to fire though. If I'm not concerned aboout the return signal, the coils should fire as any other coil, right? They're inductive coils...

Yes, they should be able to fire as with any other coils. What counts it the primary resistance and secondary resistance.

If you wanted to use the toyota igniter too, that's when the square wave becomes important!
