How is that left front cam belt idler pulley? There seems to be a lot of rust on the belt on that side. Had to come from somewhere....

Gasket had a tear in it and being out in the weather allowed water to get all over it. I've cleaned it up and it functions fine; but to be safe I have replaced it with another I had.

Weather has been a real pita up this way, lots of rain, cool temps and humidity. Sure has slowed my progress down, as my hands ( rheumatoid arthritis ) having been giving me fits ) I have managed to change out the belts, cleaned up the covers a bit, repaired a small leak in the radiator and changed out the hoses. I've pained it and the shrouds;then filled with a fresh 50/50 mix. I've clean some more of that God awful black paint from the headlight ears, turn signals and front fender and forks, installed a new oil filter and filled the crank with fresh oil. Getting there slowly but surely. Hoping to have it running and painted by the end of the week ... if .. the weather cooperates and it doesn't turn too humid.

Looks like that bike needs timing belts and just a touch more flat black with a rattle can. Good luck on this one, it is ALWAYS great to see one of these machines saved.

Still been crappy weather up this way so I haven't quite finished this project yet, still needs paint on the false tank; but it's up and running and the new owner is very happy. Looks like we'll have another new member here real soon. Here's a couple of pics to show what it looks like now.

( sissy bar/pad was requested by him, I don't like it and there are no rear foot pegs for a passenger so why bother? )
