My biggest suggestions are to use a hand full of hardware to get the scrubbing action, about a quart of acid at a time, do lots of shaking, and the biggest part, FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO DO THE SHAKING!
Oh and figure out what you are going to do with all the acid after you finish before hand. Acid and the acid water from rinsing, I ended up with about 4 gallons of liquid that was still extremely acidic.
not really any use to you now but just something i used to do with vw fuel tanks.... same thing as you but instead of shaking it. strap it inside of a cement mixer. rolls over nice and frees you up to do something else.

That's a great Idea... but cement mixer isn't all that high up on my tool wish list. I had thought about it though. But transmission jack is working its way closer to the top! I'm thinking one of the many motorcycle lifts I have should work for getting a trans out of my truck.

I got my Lesters on Friday. They were pretty beat, but that wasn't a surprise to me, the seller sent detailed pics.
I spent today refurbishing them. I plan on Powder coating the centers and keeping the rim polished Aluminum.
Though is was a ton of work they turned out pretty nice. I wanted to make use of the old bearings to spin them to polish, before I powder coated.
They were $300 shipped, and shipping cost the seller $100. So I still feel pretty good about them. The brake discs look like new.

V belt would have been nice! I didn't want to spend the cash on a V Belt so I used a piece of fuel hose I had in my "bin O hose". I super glued a piece of threaded bolt as a connector.
It worked fine.
When we moved to this house one of my Son's friends that helped move, us picked up a bin labeled "fuel hose" and said "no one has 40 pounds of fuel hose" he opened the bin to take a look and said "I stand corrected"

Like I don't have anything more important to do... I wanted to see what my paint looked like so I refurbished my valve cover badges.
I used a syringe and mixed up some of the urethane paint I bought for the tins.
It's "hugger orange" it looks red in the pics but it is orange.
Gotta figure out how I'm going to powder coat the wheels, they won't fit in my Craigs List oven... might just have to build a bigger oven.

Nice work and good method if you were to ask me. Does the syringe clean up fine for use on another day, or does you or your spouse work in the medical industry?

Got it at the feed store down the road for $1.35. It survived the painting, but when I tried to clean it the rubber stopped swelled up. I bought a few. can't go wrong for a $1.35.

another great idea (espcially since I have access to syringes) I had thought about powder coating my lesters, but worried about the rubber fittings in the rear wheel

Nice job on the valve cover badges. I had a friend who took the door off of his shop oven, and built an extension out of some high temp insulation. It made it big enough so he could get a good sized motorcycle frame in it for powder-coat baking. He added a fan from a convection oven to get the hot air moving about, and put an addition BBQ temp gauge in the front section to keep track of the temperature in the new section. It did not look very pretty, but it did work well.

Well, it took way longer than i thought to get back to this. I built a bigger Powder coating oven, and a booth to shoot in. Between that and two family vacations...
But, anyway,
Here is my latest attempt at two tone PC.
Next I'm on to the brakes calipers and brackets. I figure I'll practice on everything else before I tackle the wheels.
