:crosso Gnaw Bone Lunch Run, crossy.gif Saturday, April 7, 11:30 at the Gnaw Mart in Gnaw Bone, Indiana. The Gnaw Mart is the proud home of the Nationally acclaimed Gnaw Bone Tenderloin Sandwich.

The Gnaw Mart is located about 4 miles east of Nashville, IN on S.R. 46.
Address:
4947 Indiana 46 and Brown Hill Rd.
Nashville, IN 47448

A lot of us in this part of the country make at least one run to Nashville, IN each year because it is such beautiful country so why not meet up for lunch. If anything develops after lunch that would be up to whoever shows up.

In case of miserable riding weather :( the event will be rescheduled to the third Saturday, April 21.

Gonna try -- one of my favourite restaurants in the entire world is in Nashville. It's called -- how original! -- The Nashville House. Terrific fried biscuits with apple butter, and a coleslaw that's....ummmm, a matter of individual taste. To me, it tastes exactly like a freshly mown hayfield. (Your experience may vary). And I love the country ham with red-eye gravy.

I'll be at Gnaw Bone.

Bearwing. We like the Nashville House but my personal favorite is "The Hob Nob" across the street.

The Hob Nob is terrific -- love the floors and the tin ceilings, and the food is excellent, too.

For those of you not familiar with Nashville, it's a small town and artists' colony in Brown County, Indiana. The Abe Martin Inn at the Brown County State Park is wonderful. Much of the 'style' of the entire town is based an a fictional character named 'Abe Martin', a creation of Indiana humorist Frank McKinney 'Kin' Hubbard.

Trust me, I can be incredibly long-winded and monumentally boring about Hubbard and Abe Martin. He wrote a small cartoon panel that appeared on the front page of the Indianapolis News from 1900 until his death in 1930. (This was the era of five --FIVE -- daily papers in Indianapolis). Every year, Hubbard would have that years' columns bound in a small yearbook, and distribute it to friends, and sell the rest for one dollar apiece.

When my brilliant and beautiful wife and I got engaged, she gave me five of these books, which doubled my collection. I've since collected the rest, one at a time.

In fact, one of my favourite stories was.....hey, lego! HELP! Please don't put those socks in my mouth! Mmmmphmmphmmphmmm!

Wow, Bearwing, I didn't know any of that. I just thought that Gnaw Bone was started by someone gnawing on a bone and Nashville was started by moonshiners who wanted to avoid the law. :)

Actually, I believe that Gnaw Bone was originally 'Narbonne'. The local pronunciation eventual evolved it to something a little more colourful. By the way, it's mentioned in William Least Heat Moon's terrific travel diary, 'Blue Highways'.

If you decide it’s a go ,you can lay over night at my place. You’re retired right? C’mon down.
