After much searching and communicating with various places I have decided to go with Rifrafters http://www.rifrafters.com/ for our "Base camp" for the Run. I have talked to the Manager and he seems to be very accommodating. The Cabins are $ 20 a head per night with a $40 minimum charge. So if you want a cabin to yourself it will cost you 40 a night. Tent Camping is $12 per person per night. When I spoke to him last (about 3 days ago now) all the cabins were available for our time frame. Rifrafters is located on Laurel Creek Road at the south edge of Fayetteville WV just off of 19.

Rifrafters Campground‎
Laurel Creek Road/County Road 8
Fayetteville, WV 25840-8041
(304) 574-1065

38.04871,-81.124001 (from Google, might want to verify first, on my GPS there were off a couple miles)

And there is a Hand drawn map below.

There are 3 hotels in the local area for those that are interested in going that route. http://www.hawksnestsp.com/ Hawks Nest State Park Hotel is about 10 miles up the road (see Sagebrush's map below) and has a spectacular view of the Gorge as seen above. There is a Quality Inn literally across the street from the Campground http://www.qualityinnnewrivergorge.com/ and there is a Comfort Inn down the road about 2.5 miles South on Route 19 http://www.comfortinn.com/hotel-oak_hil ... 479ad10494

If you want to stay at the Hawks Nest get your reservations in ASAP! As of this week they only have 16 rooms left out of 31 for our time frame.

From the Rifrafters web site
Quote:

Cabin 1

Cabin 2
Sleeps four / full-size bed and one twin bunk

Cabin 3
Sleeps 16 / four full-size bunks

Cabin 4
Sleeps eight / two full-size bunks (Reserved Whiskerfish + 3)

After comparing Hawks Nest and Comfort Inn and considering the distance from the campground I decided on the Comfort Inn, 2.5 miles from the campground and breakfast is included. With my choice privileges account and AAA discount I booked a King room for $80 a night, although I think I got the last one for that price. Others are $89 a night.

Steve what do you propose for the run registration fee? Also, let me know if you want Terrie and me to do the picnic lunch thing like we did last fall.

Good Work Steve, I would like to grab a bunk in a cabin. Seems like we need to decide how to group up.

Thanks, Steve, for all the work and a good job of providing lots of information in this post. action1 Great area for the meeting!!

I have booked a room at the Quality Inn just across the road. It looked real nice when we visited this week, and the AAA rate is 86.39 for a two bed room. They said I had to go to meetings to get the AA rate. I just like to have a bathroom in my room at night and sheets for the bed. :sleepy Can travel lighter without a sleeping bag, too.

Looking forward to seeing the group in July.

At the intersection of Hwy. 19 and Laurel Creek Road. (the intersection right by the campground) my GPS said N38.02975, W81.07027, 1906 ft. elevation. At that intersection, there is a Dairy Queen, a Sunoco station, a Quality Inn and Elliott's Whitewater Bar and Grill. Take Laurel Creek Road to the West to get to Rifrafters Campground.

You'll be awed by the beauty of the area by the time you get there, especially if you come from the East or West on Federal route 60. ngwsmilie

I am waiting for some info to confirm but it looks like we may have one Evening meal catered in under the pavilion and Sagebrush and I are discussing the possibly having a road side Picnic like we did last year in the middle of a day ride.

I DO NOT plan on doing a T Shirt and with the food being the only significant expense I think the Registration cost will be pretty Low. I think we can get away with $10 a head but it will be a few weeks before I finalize that.

Roster So far

Whiskerfish
Sagebrush
Terri
Cyborg
Oldewing
Rat
Rodger
Beth
Bob F
Fred
OhioBill
JBZ ??
Claude ??
MikeO
Ken L
Greg ??
Paul
Linda
Kimbal

No T-shirts required, it adds too much work for the value. Good move. The meal plan sounds outstanding. We do need to confirm the attendance soon, as that helps a bunch to have a solid number early.
