GL1200 Weber Carb Conversion

GL1200 Weber Carb Conversion
I used a VW Porche 36/38 Weber with plenum from the kit.
Used the gl1100 intake manifolds. Machine 1.5 inch aluminum tubing to the plenum.
Machined plugs for the Anti backfire intake ports.
Very happy with the results.

I think he was talking about the Carb kits to convert VW "pancake" motors used in Type 4 and 3 [type 4 is the bus and T3 is the wagon/fastback/notch-back cars they made in the 60's-70's]
here a picture of the plenums, the rest of the kit were tube that went to the intake similar to a Goldwing. The ones with the bigger ports are type 4 because it was a bigger motor. the Porsche 914 had a type 4 motor in but it had a bit more performance. these kit were for converting fuel injection motors to a carb, the early VW EFI was not very good, these allowed you to fit a Weber 32/36 progressive carb or a 38mm or 40mm DGAS carb.

The ones with the big runner connections look like the EMPI 01-00-3241-0 manifold.

Oh man, I really love what you did here and am drooling over the ease of this setup. I cannot wait to do this to mine!
A couple questions if you don't mind though, are you sure you didn't use a 32/36 instead of the 36/38?? I have never heard of the 36/38. How does the progressive carb work out for you? I'm wondering how a 38 series carb would work being that it has manual secondaries??
Love the bike and really love the ease of tuning involved here versus the 4 singles that come on them. I also really like the fact that it's different, and "outside the box!"

May build another setup for my ride and want to have more than one system ready to go. No sense in having the bike down when I can change out a fuel delivery system and ride on while the other is being created. I know I know just buy another bike.

Has anyone used a Single 38mm dgas carb on a type4 Manifold on a Goldwing engine?
