Here goes a record of the first bike that I am cutting up and reworking the frame. I got a lot of good ideas from reading some of the awesome builds posted on this site and want to say thank you to everyone out there for sharing the knowlege. I will try my best to share what I have learned over the years.

now that thats out of the way, on to the bike.

This is what I'm starting with, its a beat down non running 76 gl 1000 that i picked up on cl for 300 bucks so I figured if I totaly mess this thing up I just paid 3 bills for a lesson on what not to do. sorry the pics aren't great all I've got is a cameraphone, it should get the point across and I'll get some good high res pics when its all done.

I'm stopping the tear down here for now because I want the weight of the motor to help me later.

Now the point of no return, the first cut, or maybe I past that point the first time i fell off the mini bike as a kid, laughed my butt off and got back on to do again.

this is where I ended up after the first day I got really absorbed into the work and forgot to take pictures of the process but I basicly coppied Hotts first few posts on the one he's nearly finished with ol' sparky I think he's calling it. I dont know how to put in a link to his thread but its pretty easy to find.

now the motor has come out and there is lots of finish welding to do, could do it upside down laying on my back but the motors gotta come out anyways and when its my life on the line I want to be sure Ive got the best possible welds in there that I can do.

The next day I wanted to start on the rear suspension but I don't yet have the shocks that I want to run. I improvised a bit I hope it don't bite me in the a$$ later.

ok so there it is I think I'm done cutting up the frame and your all caught up to where I'm at now. Still tons of work to do and I know right now it might look a lot like some other bikes but it is just a frame at the moment and I garentee it will be completely original when its done, and that ain't an easy thing to do heck hollywood is so out of ideas they are remaking movies that were remade 2 or 3 times allready.

Oh man you really had to go and post pics of your build, LOL, I am wanting to do some thing similar.

Now I really cant wait till I can get it started, haha, Im planing of using a single rear shock above the swing arm and thinking of welding a single down tube in for a standard motorcycle gas tank. I dont know yet if I will rake the front or not as I like the tight turn radius the stock angle gives and would hate to screw that up.

Its looking good so far and I will be watching this very close, keep the pics coming.

KISS according to then Governor Jesse Ventura: Keep it stupid, simple. He said that on national tv. I liked him for the most part as governor, that made me like him more. I enjoy watching your work, Jafo. Keep the pics and details coming.

I had a big chunk of the frame missing from the neck where it was streched and to fill it I took a peice of the tubing from the rear frame section that i cut off and cut a section out of it lengthwise and welded it in place.
